Kiln-formed glass necklace.
The perimeter of this necklace is created using rods of glass that are rolled in a fine metal powder. The glass is carefully arranged in a mold, and heated to around 1500 degrees Fahrenheit. The metal oxidizes when heating. The entire piece is black when it comes out of the kiln. The glass in the carved on a lapidary wheel and brought to an optical polish, highlighting the delicate halos of black around each rod of glass.
This necklace is adjustable in length from 15 1/2" - 17".
All hardware is oxidized sterling silver.
The glass measures 1 3/16" in diameter.
